Party to Farewell Miss Graham
On Friday we had a party to say goodbye to our College Teacher, Miss Graham. We gave her two big bunches of flowers from our home gardens to say thank you. We had fun with Miss Graham and we will miss her heaps because she was a great College Teacher. We are pleased she has a job in Te Kuiti for next year.
She read us two Roald Dahl books. For maths we did fractions with playdough. We made space collages and did drama about space for out topic. Miss Graham said she will come and see us in the production.
The Middle Team are divided into three groups and are learning their parts for the Production on Friday 13th December, in the Regent Theatre. It is 11 more sleeps until then. We all need a costume for it so please check out the note that comes home.
We have a new girl called Nadia in our class. She came from Christchurch.
Lastly, we almost have everyone with a sunhat at school. Can we be the first class to do that???

It is Term 3 already!
We have had our two weeks on holiday. We had fun at the movies, at Moana Pool, played sports, went to friend's houses, went to Georgies, went to the Museum or McDonald's or the beach, went shopping and bought fun things, played games, did our chores and cleaning, and practised our basic facts for the math-a-thon.
It will be a busy term. We will do the cross-country in week 4. We will be training at Fitness time.
At the end of the term in week 9 it will be school sports day.
Come and see R16 on maths night - next Thursday 8th August.
Tomorrow morning we are off to a show in the Hall - we haven't been told what it is yet!
Also tomorrow we are getting our last College teacher for the year. Miss/Mrs Graham is her name.
We have had a visiting teacher from Australia looking in our class and other classes.
Today when we arrived at school we had to look carefully to see where our desks were as they had moved. Was it Mrs Phillips or was it a ghost?

Have you seen these Maori traditional instruments? We have! We saw them at the Museum when we went for a visit. Come into our room and check on our dictionary to find out their names. The trip was awesome, fantastic, great, epic, incredible, magical and interesting. We also spent time looking at, thinking about and drawing Maori carvings with manaia, lizards and tikis.
We had a Kaupapa Maori Day last week with a Mihi Whakatu for the Middles, Models, and Juniors. Kindle 1 was our buddy class. We loved it.
It was Ice Skating last Friday night. Some of us went with our families.
The Learning Commitment Presentations have been great. Come and see our posters/information in the Library Corner.
In Maths Mrs Unahi is teaching us about perpendicular and parallel lines, and shapes.
At news on Fridays we are working in groups of three and one person has to remember ALL of the news for the group so that they can tell the rest of the class!
On the last day of the term Elective groups will be sharing in the Hall.

What's new ?
Miss Kelly was here for two weeks. She did Printing, taught us to make Rakau Sticks for Technology, some Maths, some Reading, learn a Maori waiata and read us stories. We thought she was a great and fantastic College Teacher. Tomorrow we are getting a new College teacher called Mrs Hannah-Brennan.
We are having milk everyday at Healthy Food Time, if we like it. Some of us are still just having our own food. We all had to go to the Hall last week to see the DVD's about it and to learn how to fold the empty boxes. The Teacher's helper will be the milk monitor each day then teach the next helper what to do.
We are going to Maori class with Mrs Yeoman each Friday morning. We were the first class to learn a new song that Mrs Yeoman wrote. We had to help her teach it to Room 17.
Also on Friday mornings we go to small Elective groups where we have lots and lots of fun making and doing things.
Last week Room 8 had a Bake Sale in the Hall and we bought and ate lots of goodies. They were raising money for a family who needed help.
Cultural Swap is now in Room 11with Miss Barnett where we use the COW - computer on wheels, with its laptops.
Remember the Winter weather and Winter clothes. Have you seen our "Shut-The-Daurus"?

Term 2 Begins!
Everyone had a fun, awesome, fantastic, brilliant, cool, ultimate, epic, beautiful, super and the best holiday. Our two great College Teachers gave our class a great story book and a certificate for each of us when they left on the last day of the term. They helped us with our Assembly item. Did you see it? We were very proud of ourselves and we did very well.
We will have a new College Teacher next week, just for two weeks, then we get another one for the rest of the term. Our new topic is about The Maori Marae - Te Marae.
Today we went to the "Mana" show. We learnt about: Polynesian countries, an American Indian hoop dance, Hawaiian dancing, haka and poi from New Zealand and were set a challenge to find out about our parents and family by asking them to tell us some of their stories. We are going to "soar like an eagle" by doing all our challenges and getting them right.
We will need to have a waterproof jacket and a long-sleeved top to wear outside for this term and next term. If we wear our gumboots to school we leave them by the sink and wear other shoes or thick socks in the classroom.

Next Friday, 19th April we will be the class of the week on stage at Assembly. We hope you can come and see us. The day after will be the start of the holidays.
Mrs Phillips has been away again so we have had Mrs King. She helped us make postcards for Mrs Phillips telling her about our Easter holidays. We all had a long, happy and chocolately Easter.
On the week before Easter we had Japanese visitors at our school so we had an International Day when we all dressed in our national costumes.
Last Saturday, 6th April, there was a Kid's Market. Some of us sold lots of things and made money while others came to buy lots of things.
